50,000 Luminaries to be Lit This Saturday
This Saturday, November 12, 2011, 50,000 luminaries will light up the dark sky in Cheshire as a sign of unity in hope for a better world while raising funds for The Cheshire Community Food Pantry, Cheshire's Department for Youth and Social Services, The Petit Family Foundation, and The Cheshire's Lights of Hope Scholarship Fund. This charity was established to encourage our community to have hope in the midst of darkness that often seems more prevalent in our world.
We hope you will join us!
Mile of Hope
Over 2,000 luminaries will be lit along the Mile of Hope, which stretches along Rt. 10 from Bartlem Park to the Cheshire Academy entrance.
Thanks to all the businesses who helped sponsor this area.
Additional Luminaries on Sale
A limited supply of additional luminaries have gone on sale at R.W.Hines Ace Hardware, Timberline, and PAWS Pet Resort. Each kit will cost $12.00.
If you didn't have chance to order from your street captain, don't miss out on this opportunity. We will also be selling them from 12-3 on Saturday in front of Cheshire High School.
Don't wait, over 6,500 were sold last year on the day of the event.
Sand
Over 9 yards of sand has been delivered to PAWS. If you are a captain and providing the sand to your neighbors, we suggest you get there as soon as possible. You can estimate a 1 gallon ziplock bag of sand per kit. There are shovels there for your use. Thanks to Superior Stone Supply, Cheshire Stone & Supply, Preferred Properties, and Jay & Joann Monroe for their generous donation of this sand.
Set Up & Assembly of your Luminaries
Due to the storm, there may be a lot of debris along your street. Please use common sense and clear the area where you will be placing your luminaries.
Please visit our website for complete instructions: Luminary Assembly
Please clean up the area the next morning.

THANK YOU
We could not have done this without out our wonderful committee who have dedicated many hours of hard work. Please thank them if you get a chance.
We also must thank our Street Captains, who rallied their neighbors to participate.
