Thank you!
To all who helped make the Cheshire’s Lights of Hope event on November 6 another huge success! It was a beautiful day and with over 55,000 luminaries to light our town, the chilly night was a vision for neighbors, town residents and visitors to enjoy. It was impossible not to be filled with a sense of love and hope.
The generosity of spirit in Cheshire continues to deserve our recognition:
-
Joe and Robin Whitright of PAWS
-
Pat and Terry Bowman of RW Hines Hardware
-
Timberline
-
The Cheshire High School Football team who showed up in force early Sunday to clean up the Mile of Hope
-
Our sponsors and street captains
-
The hundreds of volunteers who pitched in to help light the night in Cheshire with hope
We are already making plans for next year’s event, which we anticipate will be held on November 12, 2011. Please check our website, www.cheshireslightsofhope.com, frequently as we will be posting additional details there in the future. Our committee has already met and discussed changes to our website, which will make it easier to purchase and order luminaries next year. Also check us out on Facebook.
Many photos taken by our committee member, Ron Kochman of A Photographic Sensation, are up on our website. He did a beautiful job in capturing the day and night.
One of our primary missions is to fund local charities that impact the lives of people in need in our community. In these extremely challenging times, it was heartwarming to see so many people who donated their time, their talents and their financial resources to this event. The success of this event truly is a testimonial to the rich sense of community in the Town of Cheshire. This year we were able to give $12,000 to The Cheshire Community Food Pantry at St. Bridget’s Church, The Cheshire Youth & Social Services Department and The Petit Family Foundation.
We also continue to fund the Cheshire Lights of Hope Scholarship Fund awarding $2,500 to a graduating high school senior who lives in Cheshire.
Please spread the word about this scholarship to deserving high school seniors. Applications will be available on our web site or by going to your high school's guidance office.
Thanks again to everyone for working so hard to promote our shared goal of hope.
We wish you and your family a happy holiday season filled with peace, love, and hope.
